[Sokka's day will involve a few things. One of them won't include shoveling all the snow out of the way of his house. It's not that he's lazy, but when his sister can take care of that in less than a minute, why even bother? Later his day will involve working on important things at the smithy, like the metal casing for a certain teleporter. And maybe some weapons or the key-shaped variety. Or helping New Feathers find their weapons so they can go about being dangerous. He'll also do lunch in the plaza... maybe do some shopping.

But why dwell on the bad parts? Before his kidnapping, Sokka is available for running into. Also, in light of the fact the snow is coming down pretty hardcore today and is, frankly, almost a blizzard, he feels inclined to make a voice post in the middle of the day.]

You know, we had that big blizzard about the same time last year. Well, not big big. I've seen bigger. But we had a lot of people get stranded out in that stuff. Actually, I met a lot of people being stranded at the Straw Hat's place... Uh, anyway. Yeah, blizzards. Bad stuff. Better make sure you got a lot of food at home, just in case.

[Hours later, on his way home, he'll meet some delightful metal men who will proceed to knock him out and drag him off, being nice enough to leave his sword and boomerang in the snow.]

No, but we do have airships. Which I had a part in designing, incidentally.

Oh yeah! I even invented the submarine on my world!

[Okay, conceptualized. The Machinist made it work. Still, Sokka had the fundamental idea down!]

Well, we needed a way to get by the Fire Nation defenses to attack the imperial city. Regular boats wouldn't cut it. So I figured, why not boats that go underwater? So I passed on my plans to my inventor buddy, since I was too busy to do the work myself, and bam! We had submarines.

I have to admit, I'm quite impressed. Have you done anything like that here?

... not really. Everything I'd come up with has kind of already been invented by other people.

Every inventor says that at least once.

Maybe it's just a matter of finding a need niche.

Yeah, maybe. I've mostly just settled for making weapons. That seems to be a pretty good niche on its own.

Do you ever try your hand at new ones?

I've dabbled with making some new stuff here and there. Or at least, stuff I've seen in books.

I made special trick short sword that can spray out oil, with a built in mechanism that extends out to cut things within a small distance. Extremely complicated! I made two. One as the prototype, which I still have, and the other which I guess disappeared with the owner.

WHOA! COOL! Ahh, can you light the oil on fire then?

Well that's not exactly what it was designed for...

What else would you use the oil for?

To slip up or blind the enemy. Or fix a squeaky wheel. Whatever.

Why would you fix a squeaky wheel with a sword? And no one slips on oil, that'd be like a banana peel boomerang.

It was just a thought! I made it a long time ago. Now that I think about it, I could probably use Eferin to light it up...
