4th Wall - [Action/Voice]

Wow guys... the ocean, the ocean is amazing. I forgot what it's like to see the sunrise over the ocean.

[Sokka, along with the rest of the Gaang and some others that accompanied him, is out by the ocean, having settled in despite the cold weather. What's a little thing like being nowhere in the middle of nowhere to keep him from being harassed by everyone?]

[A somewhat familiar face is standing by the ocean, taking in the cool spray of the water.]

[Really, really quietly. So quietly. Because she's barely breathing, let alone able to force her voice to work.]

[Running over now and throwing herself at you. Better catch her, Hakoda, 'cause she's not stopping.]

[When he hears her voice, he turns, a smile forming on his face. It hasn't been all that long since he's seen her, but since his time on a certain boat, he knows how hard these things can be. So when she comes running, he takes a few steps forward and catches her, pulling her into an embrace.]

I can't believe it's really you!

[...when suddenly a horrible thought grips her, and she uses her arms to push away, holding on to his arms with her hands as she looks up at him.]

It is really you, right?

[That makes him a little sad, that she could doubt it was actually him. He brushes one of the strands of hair from her face.]

It's me, Katara. You're my sunshine, remember?

[She visibly wibbles at that, eyes filling up again.]

Yeah. Yeah, I remember.

[And she offers him a watery smile.] It's really good to see you, Dad.

[He keeps his hand along the side of her face.]

I'm always glad to see you. I'm just sorry it's been so long. [Because it HAS been a long time. You've grown.]

[Normally, Katara would pull away - but it's been almost a year since she's seen him, and before for much of the time she'd been on the ship she'd been so angry...

She closes her eyes and leans into her dad's touch, for just a moment, letting her heart take its fill of his presence. Just the fact that he's there.]

It's okay. It wasn't your fault.

Even so, if I could have been here before, I would have.

[He pulls her back into a hug, burdened by the knowledge that this won't last. His time with them will be brief. It will be worthwhile, that he knows, but it won't last. It makes being with them as painful as it would be without them.]

[She hugs him back, clings to him, really, and gives herself a moment to be weak before she'll pull back and try to be strong.]

I really missed you, Dad.

[Sokka's jaw hangs there for a moment. Is his dad really, really actually there? He hesitates for a second...]

[Wait... this is probably like everything else. Why would he dad even be near the ocean?] Uh, dad?

[The words might be casual, but he's feasting his eyes on you, boy. You look like you've become a man.
