When do we start getting some real snow around here? I've seen a little here and there, but the stuff practically melts by the time it hits the ground! My real birthday is in November, but not, you know, the one it is in Luceti. I won't actually be, you know, seventeen this month. That's not the point. But back home, we have some pretty good blizzards this time of year. I mean, sure, there's snow all the time back home, but November snow is... special? Kind of? I'm just hoping we don't have to wait until December for the real stuff. Sunshine and flowers are great and all, but it's getting kind of old by now, you know?

[Having let everyone know his feelings about the weather, as well as work related updates, Sokka settles into the smithy to get some work done and meet anyone coming to pick up their orders. Afterward, he decides to have some fun in the Battle Dome. He can either be stopped on his way there from the smithy, or someone can meet up with him there.]

Well, you found it! Anything you're looking for? If you had any weapons at home, they're probably over there. [He nods over in the direction where New Feather stuff is sorted into.]

[He couldn't grab anything that would be associated with the Batsuit during the day. Least he could scope the stock out and come back later in the night.] Ehh, people weren't too big about carrying around weapons back home. [He stepped into the smithy proper and made a show of looking around in curious interest, all the while trying to memorize the layout and what was stashed away. Dammit, why couldn't it be Bruce doing the memorizing?] I...probably should get one if I'm gonna live here?

[His world would probably be more like that if it weren't for the war going on. Even then, most people were still civilizations and went around unarmed. Unfortunately when it came to benders, they always had a weapon on them and they hid it well.] Couldn't hurt, but uh... do you actually know how to use any of this stuff? You're more likely to hurt yourself first if you don't.

[Hmm, stilettos, knives, daggers, a sai, a couple tonfas, various flavors of swords, and more katanas than even Tanaga-sensei's collections.] You could say I'm more a throwing weapon kinda guy.

Oh, yeah. We have plenty of people like that. Shurikens, darts, knives, whatever. We've got plenty of those. Boomerangs too, but that seems to be more of a me thing. [He has yet to meet many people who take it as seriously as he does! Except Batman, but he makes his funny shaped and stupid.]

Boomerangs, for real? [He hadn't been one for retrieving the batarangs he threw, most of them weren't of the returning variety. Though, if he could figure out how to throw one properly...] Are we talking ones for hunting or ones that come back after you throw them?

Uh, both? [As far as Sokka's boomerang goes, it works for both. It's rather ridiculous like that.]

[Terry nodded, looking impressed.] Well, right now, I need something that I can just practice with before jumping straight to the real thing. Not a lot of boomerangs where I'm from. [Or room to throw them.]

Really? You want an actual boomerang then? [He doesn't get to make many of those, except for himself!]

Sure, why not? Always sounded like a good sorta weapon to carry around.

I'll start you out with a wooden one. That's the best way to start learning.

Sounds good! [Okay, wood...who fights using wood? Even the Stalker used a metal pike. Whatev, training was training...I guess.]

[For now though, Sokka retrieves his own boomerang. Blue, sharp, and of course, metal.]

This is what I use. Always comes back, no matter what. It's even bladed to cut through stuff without slowing it down.

[I'm already liking that sort of design...] How about in close-range as a hand-weapon, like say to deflect or parry blows?

[He glances at it.] If you had to, it could work. But I carry other weapons for that. [Like the sword strapped to his back, for instance.]

[Terry shrugged nonchalantly, putting on good show while filing away details for later.] Eh, was just wonderin', y'know, in case of close encounters and all that.

Yeah, the old Boomerang isn't really for that kind of thing. [He returns it to its holster.]

Ahh, I getcha. So, like, how much would it cost to get a boomerang to train with?

Not expensive at all. You know, since none of us have any money.
