When do we start getting some real snow around here? I've seen a little here and there, but the stuff practically melts by the time it hits the ground! My real birthday is in November, but not, you know, the one it is in Luceti. I won't actually be, you know, seventeen this month. That's not the point. But back home, we have some pretty good blizzards this time of year. I mean, sure, there's snow all the time back home, but November snow is... special? Kind of? I'm just hoping we don't have to wait until December for the real stuff. Sunshine and flowers are great and all, but it's getting kind of old by now, you know?

[Having let everyone know his feelings about the weather, as well as work related updates, Sokka settles into the smithy to get some work done and meet anyone coming to pick up their orders. Afterward, he decides to have some fun in the Battle Dome. He can either be stopped on his way there from the smithy, or someone can meet up with him there.]

Rocks...? Ohhh. [Now she's getting it.]

Gimmie a second. [Heading outside, There's a loud CRACK and she comes back in with two sizable rocks.] These good?

Okay, here's what I need... [While she's still holding a rock in either hand, he starts touching them.]

First, they need to be about an inch thick and well... [He drops the cut out heel on top of the rock.] Shaped exactly like this.

[With the other rock she's holding, he starts poking along the perimeter with the tip of his knife.] With tiny little holes spaced like this... [A few pokes, about a quarter inch apart for each one.] All along the outside, so we can fasten it.

Right. Detail work, but I can do it of course. [Give her a bit, and you best move your hands, Sokka, because pieces of rock are falling off smoothly. And those tiny holes just kind of melt in.] So we're making rock shoes...?

[He gets back to cutting out the heel in the other shoe while she's doing that.]

Exactly! It probably won't stay as warm as regular shoes would and they won't be the most comfortable around, but at least this way it's not a choice between going out blind or having a foot freeze off.

You forget that I like the feel of rock. [Anddd finishing up. Two rock soles ready to go.]

As long as I can see, I'm fine.

Yeah, don't worry, you'll be able to see. [Sokka takes the two rock pieces and the cut up boots and drops them in a bag.] It'll take me a little while to finish these up. But I'll have them finished up by tomorrow.

[That gets a smile.] Good. I don't wanna go without seeing if I don't have to.

You know, since we're in town, we should go get some of that soda I mentioned. [You know, for something FUN they can do.]

That sounds awesome. Lead the way, Snoozles. [New shoes and soda. sweeet.]

[... oi, nick names.] We'll try something different this time. There's a ton of flavors, actually. Well, maybe not that many, but there's a lot.

[Yeah, yeah.] A ton? Really?

Definitely a lot. All kinds of fruit flavors, some not even based on fruits... and then there's even 'diet versions' that are made to taste nasty.

Diet versions...? Why make something if it's nasty tasting?

It's supposed to be healthier or something, I don't know.

What's the point of it being healthy if you can't drink it?

Who knows, right? [And into the store they go, Sokka starts to cruise the merchandise for soda.] I guess it's like other healthy stuff. like what Aang eats. He'd probably like diet soda. [If he ever stuck around long enough to be hooked on it.]

Ick. I don't know why either, but he probably would. [Aang and his no meat, healthy food thing. Gross.]

Yeah, his taste in food? Not so great. [And here they are, Sokka finds a can of grape soda and hands it over.] This is the grape stuff.

[Toph takes the can, popping the top and taking a swig. licking her lips, she grins.] Tasty. Doesn't taste a lot like grape though.

Yeah, the flavors t end to be misleading. It just happens to be the same color as grapes. That's about it. [He pops his open and downs some of it.]

Why call it grape soda, then? [Gluping down a bit more.]

I don't know. I guess calling it, "Purple Soda" doesn't sound as tasty.

I guess, but it's still stupid.

Yeah, well this place isn't exactly brimming with intelligence. Seriously, just wait until the next time the Malnosso come talking to us. The guy in charge is as bad as Bumi.
