Sokka the 50th - [Action/Voice]

When do we start getting some real snow around here? I've seen a little here and there, but the stuff practically melts by the time it hits the ground! My real birthday is in November, but not, you know, the one it is in Luceti. I won't actually be, you know, seventeen this month. That's not the point. But back home, we have some pretty good blizzards this time of year. I mean, sure, there's snow all the time back home, but November snow is... special? Kind of? I'm just hoping we don't have to wait until December for the real stuff. Sunshine and flowers are great and all, but it's getting kind of old by now, you know?

I have your orders ready. Sorry they're a bit late. But, you know how it is. Throw in some super strength, stupid costumes, and hallucinations and you get a little behind. But they're good to pick up.

I finished the sword you wanted. You know, the one you were going to make? But never did? At two in the morning? Yeah, I have it. You should come pick it up.

[Having let everyone know his feelings about the weather, as well as work related updates, Sokka settles into the smithy to get some work done and meet anyone coming to pick up their orders. Afterward, he decides to have some fun in the Battle Dome. He can either be stopped on his way there from the smithy, or someone can meet up with him there.]

[Even doing just that he'll show up at the Smithy about when he said he would, a stack of this paper tucked under one arm. He's also wearing his flak jacket. Because he's not so eager about the cold weather as you are. 8|]

[Sokka, in the meantime, is still sleeveless. Not because he's immune to the cold, but because the smithy is a warm place regardless of the season.]

Fine, no on Shika. Anything else I can call you?

[He shrugs. He doesn't actually have a nickname back home, unless 'lazy bastard' counts.]

I don't really care, so long as it's not something lame. You could use my clan's name if you want; that's less of a mouthful.

No no, Shikamaru is fine. [It's long and a mouthful, but he'll live.] Lemme go grab your order. [And off he goes.]

[Awesome. He'll just wait here then. And possibly look around to see if anything new of interest has come in, like wire or something.]

[He returns soon after with a box of kunai. He opens them up so Shikamaru can get a good look at them. The craftsmanship is good and the edges sharp. Hopefully he doesn't mind the fact that parts of it are blue.]

[He picks one up and spins it in his hand once, testing the weight. It's about half an inch longer than the Konoha standard issue, but that won't be a problem. So far, it seems well-made; he tests the edges for sharpness and the results are satisfactory.

He'll have to test them out, of course, but so far he's pretty happy with them.]

They're good. Seems like you got creative with them.

Definitely - I meant that in a good way. [Leaving a sign of your craftsmanship isn't necessarily a bad thing, after all.] I'll have to test them out to be sure, but if they work well enough I might ask for another batch.

You really go through them all that fast? [Tiny weapons... so annoying. This is why he likes his nice sword. So easy to not lose.]

Not really, but I don't want to get caught in a situation where I run out and going back for the ones I used is the only option. That'd be troublesome if it were an actual fight. [That and it's good to have more when you're using explosive tags.]

Yeah, I guess that's true. [He'd argue about how useful they really are, but he's seen Mai in action. The effectiveness of thrown darts like that is undeniable.] Exactly how good with them are you?

Good enough. [Ninjas just don't give that stuff away, man. ~~Unless you actually fight them, at which point they'll happily take ten minutes to tell you just how good they are.~~]

Yeah? I knew this girl Mai. She was pretty good. She never actually, you know, hit anyone. She hit around them. Pin their sleeves to stuff, or knock the weapons out of their hands, and that kind of stuff. Which, I guess, is pretty cool too. Kind of creepy though, with how many different things she carried on her at all times.

Yeah? [That actually does ping him - Sokka and Katara's world sounds very interesting.] Sounds like she knew what she was doing and was prepared. She must not have wanted anyone dead.

Or she just missed a lot. [He doesn't actually believe that, granted. But Azula did manage to pick some incredibly nonlethal sidekicks.]

Only when she was going for a kill? It takes more skill to hit a sleeve than it does to hit the body. [He thinks very carefully about what he just said, then recalls what he knows about dangerous women.] Or maybe she was showing off.

[Oh Shikamaru, you take things way too seriously.] I just think it's more scary to think she actually missed all those times and was trying to kill people.

Any woman with something sharp and pointy is scary. [Doesn't matter if she misses or not.]

Yeeeeah, pretty much. I feel sorry for her boyfriend, really.

Yeah, friend. Well, he is now. When she was throwing knives at us, he wasn't a friend.
