Sokka the 48th -- [Voice/Action]

[After being sent home in his own bed, Sokka had slept in a bit, finally had some real food and then went to see Suki. By now, he figures he should check to see how things went. Thus, he has a message to leave.]

Well that was a lousy week. How's everyone else doing? Did I miss anything?

Oh and uh. I think I might have to take the week off from the smithy. Maybe longer. That goes for training too.

[... yeah, that should do. He'll hang around town acting just a bit odd. For instance, very gently and very slowly opening the doors to shops. He doesn't bother going to the smithy. He's mainly just trying to stave off boredom due to the fact he really can't do much of anything now. Stupid Malnosso.]

Sokka-san, what happened before?

[Now he doesn't know if he should stand up again! Oh the awkward. He keeps staring at the river though. He's not sure how to put this delicately, so he just explains it all in one go.]

Uh, well you know how you change your hair color magically? [For no apparent reason.] Well, a few months after we met, my friend described someone like that. She said you attacked her and uh, drained her life energy or something. She was okay afterward, because I found someone to heal her, but... well. Whenever I ran into you like that, you always acted weird. Kind of threatening, like if I so much as crossed you that you would attack. You also went by the name Mercury, for some reason.

I see... I did that...

[She's not sure if she's horrified or if it's almost a relief to at least finally be told.]

I really acted like the enemy all that time.

[Looking up at her now, a bit perplexed.]

You make it sound like you don't remember.

[She shakes her head, which turns out to actually be agreement]

I don't. But I know some of what I did...

[He stands up and peers at her for a moment. Aha.... maybe he was right.]

So you were brainwashed!

[She shakes her head again and my, that ground is fascinating]

Whatever happened, I'm the one who did those horrible things.

[Not really. Keeping his attention on her is way more fascinating.]

That depends. Were you able to stop yourself?

I don't know.

[She doesn't remember it clearly enough to know just how much was her and how much wasn't, but she does know the parts of herself that aren't nice, the resentful and jealous and lonely parts.]

Okay, different question. If you had the choice, would you do it now?

[The shaking head gets even faster. Ami finally looks up at Sokka.]

Well there you go! If you had been in control, you would have stopped yourself. But you weren't, so there. Don't worry about it.

[As far as he's concerned, his logic has defeated your guilt.]

What else did I do?

Uh, that's all that I know about. Attacked a little girl on a bridge, acted creepy... [Thinking now.] Yeah, that's more or less it.

[Her shoulders droop a bit]

Sokka-san, will you help me with something?

Uh, well sure. [probably... if it's not embarrassing.] Help with what?

Well, since I changed back to normal in Luceti, I'll probably go back to how I was if I go back to my world, right? I can't let that happen! But so far, my ideas to make sure it won't haven't worked out.

Do you know someone who can give a tattoo?

Oh, I see what you mean. I guess there's not much- wait. Tattoo? Why?

Because, then in my world, my body will be the same and I'll see that and even if I don't remember Luceti, I'll know what to do.

[That made absolutely no sense to him.]

Right... well, maybe you should look for this guy called Naoki. He has tattoos all over him. Maybe he'd know? If not... maybe my friend Aang. His body is tattooed too, but he's twelve. I'm not sure if they ever taught him how to actually make them.

I see... but, isn't it a little rude if I just contact them for this?

Well uh. I could ask for you. Who knows? Maybe I wouldn't mind having a cool tattoo somewhere.

But I don't want to deceive them, either.

Asking isn't deceiving, Ami. It's just asking for the sake of asking.

I wonder if I can really make sure it won't happen.
