[Shortly after the draft meeting, Sokka has been hanging out inside, pouring over the recon information Albert had provided a month prior, and matching it up with what Caesar had gone over. He wasn't the designated leader of his team, not really. There was possibly more qualified people for that. Brook and Erza came to mind, for that. Still, he could work on their own strategy. Their best defensive position would be the river. They just had to get there. Maybe... it wouldn't hurt to go talk to the people he'd be working with. If he can't stop them after they leave the meeting, he'll be going to the homes of any of his soon-to-be comrades. Well, assuming he knows where they live, at least. "Team A", huh.

... heh. Kind of like Team Avatar. Only without the Avatar.

Afterward, he figures it wouldn't hurt to make a few more stops. Since seeing Brook, Usopp and Chopper already necessitated a trip to the Straw Hats, he'll be making some quick stops at Mayoi's, Winry's, Xion's, and even Edward's. Lastly he'll even hit up Paru, since they are neighbors, after all. Of course, who's to say the people Sokka's looking for will actually answer the door and not someone else? No one, that's who! Once he's done making his rounds, time consuming as they are, he'll be spending the rest of his evening on his front porch, reviewing the plans. Silverbergs. Jeez.]

[After she and Katara have their talk, Toph goes hunting down Sokka in the house.] Hey, Sokka! Need a word with you!

[Sokka is at the table, pouring over the battle plans. There's a lot to go over, after all. So without looking away from his work, he answers her distractedly.]

Yeah? What is it?

Me and Katara had a chat about this psycho guy you're recruiting on our team. What's up with that? [In today's news: Toph is about as subtle as a lump of granite.]

[Oh jeez. So much for plans. He should have known Katara would tell Toph. He leans back in his chair and stares at the ceiling.]

He's not a psycho. He's more of... a loud mouthed idiot.

[Blind person version of a stare, in his general direction.] Yeeeahh...so, why recruit a loud-mouthed idiot on our team? Especially one who goes around fire blasting stuff? You know we're against random fire blasting stuff, in general. And I'M against jerks who call my friends names and make them upset.

[Sighing now, he glances in her direction. A meaningless gesture, sure.] Because he's an idiot. He was only burning spiders and he tends to insult everyone. I'm about the only guy he'd even think about working with. If he doesn't fight with us, I don't think he'll fight with anyone. If that happens, he's gonna get himself killed. Personally? I wish he was fighting with another team.

If him fighting everyone's a problem, Sokka, I can take care of that real quick. I just don't want him distracting us when we're trying to fight the big bad flying evil guys. I don't NEED any distractions when I'm fighting stuff coming at me from the sky. have I mentioned how much that sucks for me?

If he gets himself killed being a moron, I don't see how it's our problem.

I didn't say he'd fight us, I mean he'd go off and fight them on his own. He talks big, but he's not going to attack us. Besides, it is our problem. If he - and his brother Donnie - get killed fighting solo, we lose two fighters. Two fighters out of sixty. There was four hundred of those bad guys a month ago. There could be as many as three times that much now.

I just don't think we should try too hard if he's not willing to listen to anyone. If you think he'll fight with us like we're a team, that's one thing. But we can't keep some idiot from fighting solo if he's just a big idiot, and I don't want someone around who makes Katara upset. It was different with Zuko. We needed a firebender and he wasn't lying about wanting to be a good guy. I don't know whoever this person is, and he doesn't sound like someone I want watching my back. Anyone who goes off fighting solo like a moron isn't going to be that much of a help, anyway. We'd be too busy trying to get his butt in line- waste of energy.

Anyway. I'm gonna talk to this guy. I'm not gonna do anything until I figure out what he's like, but I don't like this. I don't like you signing up people I don't know and Katara doesn't like or trust to come hang out with us without asking. Also, if this turtle steps out of line, I'm going to stick him in a rock box and then we won't have to worry about him dying on us.

Yeah. I get it. [Katara made the same threat. There's really no point in bringing it up. Or that Sokka would do the same thing.]

But Raphael will fight with us. I've talked to him and his brother and I'm confident he's not going to be a problem. He's not so bad a guy as he lets on. He just acts tough. [Remind you of anyone, Toph?] And if you talk to him, I don't know that it will go well. He doesn't like bending and magic. He doesn't realize you guys had to work just as hard for it as he did for his own skills. It's stupid, but it's just how he is.

[He turn and stares down at the map in front of him.] Anyway, you're right about the other stuff. I should have talked to you guys first. I got too wrapped up in being the 'strategist' and the bigger picture. I put the plan before you guys. I shouldn't have done that.

[Hey, hey. Toph doesn't just ACT tough, she is genuinely tough and deeply badass, thank you.] Yeah, you shouldn't have. [Affectionate Toph punch in the shoulder.] Try not to do it again, okay?

[Yeah yeah, we all know that deep down, you're an adorable little brat.] Believe me, I'm not planning on it.

[He slouches back in his chair, a little relieved that at least Toph was letting him off the hook. He still needed to talk to Katara.] You ready to fight tomorrow?

I'm always ready to fight, Sokka. How about you?

I could probably go for something to eat first. [Even though dinner was an hour ago. Not important.]

Yeah, it figures. You gonna pack snacks for the battlefield?

Yeah, you know, I figured after we kick some of those Third Party guys around, we'd find a nice sunny spot. Maybe a flower patch or something. One of us can have a picnic basket.

As long as you pack soda, I am there.

Speaking of. [He goes to the fridge to grab them some, because it's not like he needs to ask if she's thirsty.]

There's also some apple pie left over. [The very same pie he made three days ago with Winry. And was actually tasty and edible! Will miracles never cease?]

That's what I love about you, Sokka. You never skimp on the munchies. [Takes the soda, pops the tab, and swigs.]

[Serving up some pie too, then. Orange soda and pie make a great combination, after all.]

What can I say? I just appreciate good food.
