Sokka the 23rd - [Action/Voice]

[After some more healing sessions, Sokka is almost back to feeling one hundred percent again. Which means he's going back to the smithy today, even if he can't do his usual share of the work, he can at least direct New Feathers with what they need. Besides, after seeing Zuko as a invalid for a few weeks, the last thing Sokka wants to do is spend too much time at home healing, even if it means using a staff to balance on in spite of that injured leg. One of the first things he'll be doing though is looking for Winry. If he can't find her at the smithy or clinic, he'll be making a trip to her house.

Later in the day he opens up his journal to make a voice message. He briefly considers making it filtered, but he's not going to talk about anything considered confidential anyway. Besides, he's feeling to tired to draw up a complicated anti-villain filter now that he has to change his usual pattern to include Azula.]

[Raph's been spending a hell of a lot of time in the smithy for a guy who's only supposed to be there a few days a week, especially with you two bozos getting hurt. Not to mention it's a great excuse to get away from the apartment and vent some of that pent-up frustration.

When Sokka returns he'll see that all the bloodstains have been scrubbed from the floor and Winry's workbench, and the smithy-couch is missing altogether. Not only that, the whole place is fairly clean and somewhat sloppily organized.

At the moment, his cleaning spree has been abandoned for some more time at his workbench pounding out links for that half-finished manriki chain. But he'll look up when Sokka hobbles in.]

The hell happened to you?

[Sokka is a little distressed at the lack of his couch. Given his injured state, he was planning to be spending a lot of time on it today. But once he hears Raphael speak up, on a day Sokka thought he was supposed to be off, Sokka will turn to answer his question.]

I picked a fight with a demon on a mountain. The mountain won.

Demon, huh? And I missed out on all the action.

[He glances at Sokka's leg.]

Sorry I uh...had to trash your couch. Stains weren't comin' out.

Unless you have holy magic, you probably would have been just as useless up there as me. [He finds a regular wooden chair to sit in for now.]

We'll just have to get a new one. Maybe two, this time. Elisa isn't here to tell me that I can't, now.

[He snorts at the holy magic comment. Nothing holy about him, that's for sure.]

What, she your girlfriend or somethin'? ['Cause that's what girlfriends do, right? Nag and ruin your fun.]

What!? No! She was like thirty or something. After Lloyd and Edward were sent home, Elisa took over the smithy before I did. That kind of made her the boss. But then she went home too.

[He grins a little at the reaction.] So that's how you wound up in charge.

[He was wondering who the heck would choose you to run things.]

[He frowns at that. He didn't need her to be in charge!] It helped that I actually know how to do smithy work. She just kept things organized. She knew a lot about guns, at least.

Well that don't make sense. [Being bossed around by some chick who didn't know what the hell she was doing would piss him off a whole lot more than (not quite) listening to a spazzy weird kid who knows his way around the forge. Guess it could be worse.]

Though I'll never trust you around a grinder.

[It wasn't that bad of an arrangement. She made him sandwiches, kept things organized, and kept him from doing stupid stuff.]

Hey, that was just a one time thing! I thought Winry was in trouble.

Uh-huh. And why's that?

I heard her yelp and drop her stuff. She doesn't tend to do that often. [And when he saw two turtles in the doorway, that didn't help much. You're a little different looking in real life.]

[He's positive it has something to do with his appearance. Mostly he's testing the waters here. He still has a hard time believing that the people around here can just accept him without at least a little fear.]

Think we startled her. Didn't mean to, just happens.

[He offers a shrug.] Winry's not a fighter. But fighters come into smithy all the time. [There's a hint of concern in his voice about that. He regrets asking her to work at the smithy because the wrong kind of customer could come in at any time.]

[He knows the feeling.] Nothin's gonna happen on my watch. You got my word.

[He nods at that. He appreciates that, but he's got nothing else to say about it.]

Well you're going to have to get Edward or one of your brothers to help bring another couch in here. No way I'm hauling one of those around with this leg.

Was plannin' on it. I just haven't gotten around to it yet.

Good, good. Because without the couch, we're just the Slash and.

Sorry Raph, but that's just part of our motto. "Stop at the Slash & Crash for all those baddies you need to bash." I was thinking of putting it to music. Or a haiku.

Sounds like a bad used car salesman gimmick. All ya need is a cheesy suit and a bad comb over.

Anyways. Cars is just a mode 'a transportation. Runs with a gas engine, gets you where you need to go. Back at home we got all sorts 'a neat toys like that. Like my bike. Way better than any car. You don't know what you're missin'.
