[After a month of planning and a week of top secret work, Sokka has finished the final touches on the prototype canoe for the fleet that has yet to be built. And by finished, he of course made use of Usopp constantly. But what are across-town neighbors for anyway? So after getting his pride and joy finished, including a nice coat of paint (it's blue!) with the Water Tribe Emblem on both sides and in what is most likely a suicidal move, the Straw Hat flag mounted on the back.

An eager Sokka has already managed to pull it all the way past House #4 (with wheels obviously!) so he can test if its seaworthy (well, riverworthy) as he rides it down to the river all the way back towards his home next to the barracks. Even though he isn't planning on getting to it, he's brought along his fishing pole and some bait, just in case he gets swept down to the lake and has to survive on his own fishing and cooking skills for weeks on end while waiting for a rescue that might not ever come. So. Just in case. People may of course notice him sailing downstream and possibly try to drop things on him as he goes under the bridges.

Before he'll go though, he'll 'accidentally' leave his journal open for an 'accidental' voice post.]

This is Sokka. Casting off into the big, er, small blue... maybe kind of greenish brownish river in my vessel, The Insert Name Here. Wish me luck.

Well with Toph out of the house, we just need a house sitter for Zuko. Easy.

[And here we come to one of the reasons why Katara stays home - because Zuko is far too week to defend himself from anyone or anything and the villains have proven that locked doors mean nothing... and she's not comfortable explaining any of this over an open network.]

No. [Sorry, Nami's weapon is cool and all, but she saw Nami's room and doesn't really trust her for guard duty.] She's sick herself.

He only pretends to be an irresponsible old man. [Sokka was able to see first hand the kind of weapon Nash could use (by virtue of making one) and it was definitely not the weapon for an average warrior.]

Well, I guess we could ask him. [No one's come by to attack the house yet, after all.]

Yeah. It'll be fine, don't worry about it. [But seriously, Zuko needs to hurry up and get better so fun things can start happening again.]

[Hearing that from you is just weird. And she only wishes Zuko was better. She has a score to settle with him.]

Right. It'll be fine.

...I'm glad you built a boat, Sokka.

[That gets an eyebrow.]

Really? Why? [He kind of figured she'd be annoyed at him wasting time on it.]

I don't see that there's any real reason for it, but it's just nice to have. It's been a while since we've been on one and if I ever get out of this house to see Spring, it might be fun to do it from a boat.

[And maybe she didn't meant to say all that all that but if there's one thing that's annoying her it is being stuck - she knows she took it on herself, but - gah!]

[There's a long pause as he thinks this over. It's a really, really hard decision for him to make. But... it's Katara.]

... you know, next time it's my turn to watch the house, you can take the boat out. I don't have to be there or anything.

[There's a pause. That's a surprisingly generous offer, and Katara is touched. However, due to the Sibling Code, this is one of those things that must not be remarked on.]

... yeah. Of course. It's fine. Just don't take it ice dodging or anything. [As long as he places some restrictions on it, then it's not like he's doing her a favor or anything.]

Besides. Need at least two more for ice dodging.

It's not a competition, Sokka. Besides - in case you didn't notice - the rivers aren't exactly filled with convenient jutting rocks like last time.

I like my victories to be decisive. If something goes wrong, like for instance, you get a cramp, then we have the mines as a backup plan.
