Sokka the 61st - [Action/Voice]

[When Sokka opens the journal, he does it with a very specific purpose and yeah, maybe it's New Feather season and the aftermath of some dumb experiment, but he has some news that he's been sitting on for awhile. News that only two or three people outside of the Avatar house are even aware of. So today, around lunch period at school, Sokka heads around the building, facing the playground, to make an announcement he'd been putting off for a bit. Not because he didn't want to make it, but it was hard to do it with people being all ragey with the Malnosso. Maybe a few days of New Feathers will have cooled them off?]

Hey everyone. So... this is actually a few weeks late, but uh, that experiment kind of got in the way and New Feathers showing up and... anyway. Forget all that.

If you guys happen to see Suki around town, say hi to her for me. After all, she's the future Missus Thunderaxe. [He allows that to sink in a bit.] Because, you know, we're engaged now. Just saying. Nice pretty necklace and everything. One of my best works, if I do say so myself.

[Yeah, yeah. He's feeling good about that, okay. Like, solid. Whatever that means. Anyway, he decided that tonight he is making dinner. That means he's going to the grocery and stocking up on steaks. He wants to make steak burgers, because he's heard about them (somewhere) and they sounded awesome. From Luceti he had decided he liked steak and he liked hamburgers, so a combination? Gotta be a winner. Nevermind that he's just getting regular old steaks and plans to just put those on a hamburger bun. He'll realize the bones are gonna be a problem later on.

He'll make his customary appearance at the smithy to help New Feathers with weapons. He'll also be around school during the appropriate times for that. In the evening, after his dinner fiasco, he'll be down by the river, on the southern end of town, making some modifications to see if he can't make it sea worthy. Like adding a sail. He's pretty unsatisfied with the results though. Looks like he may need to just make a new boat from scratch. Which necessitates another voice post in the evening. But only after excluding a certain pirate. No offense, Jack, but he wants his own boat.]

So... ship building. Anyone want to help make one? A big one. Not huge, just... sea worthy with a nice strong sail. And good for bringing in lots of fish, too. Any help would be good. Just materials would go a long way.

[He had honestly said that without thinking. He just knows that with Fenimore, she knows first hand how rocky things had became there due to that experiment. All the same, moving past that, he laughs at her 'compliment'.]

Just a little, huh? [Nah actually he kind of thinks it's all one sided luck. Suki could do better.]

[Looking back at the journal and grinning, she holds up a hand with two fingers held just barely apart.] Just a little.

[But she's not going to explain to him why she thinks he makes a good catch. Instead:] So, is this a long engagement, or do you have any plans to take the next step yet?

Umm... long-ish? Honestly... Luceti is kind of a weird place to, you know, get married.

[There's just so much that can go wrong in Luceti, not the least of which is one of them being sent home before the other.]

...I guess you're right. [A sigh.] It's too bad -- it might have been kind of fun to see how you'd get married, if your world does that differently, too.

We... probably do. Though I guess I can't really comment on how they do it on Kyoshi Island. [When they do get married, he can only wonder what style it will be in, or a mix of both, or where it will even be.]

But it could happen. It's just... it'll happen when it happens, you know?

You do know that it'll take a bit more preparation than "happening when it happens," right? Weddings take forever to plan.

Yeah, well... I can't actually remember attending any weddings... [Small village. Not a lot of marriages happening.] So I wouldn't know.

[She grew up in a small village, too, but, since her village's menfolk didn't have to run off to fight a war, she's seen a couple.]

Well, I guess it depends on how much of a big deal you want it to be, but people usually have to start preparing months in advance. [Though the lack of excess resources for a wedding, as well as the simplification of invitations in such an insular society, means that she probably means a few months rather than "like a year or something" ~~though honestly I don't know enough about weddings to make a good prediction~~.]

Well... I assume it would be a pretty big deal. Probably. [Small engagement, big marriage. That's how it works, right?] Although I guess it depends on how they do things where he's from.

"Probably?" Don't you know how important weddings are for girls? [Not for all women, but as far as Fenimore believes.... She sighs.] Well, I guess it does depend on what she's expecting.

... pretty important? Fairly important? [Didn't Katara ask Aunt Wu about it? He can't remember now.]

When it comes up, we'll be sure to consult the experts. You won't overcharge, will you?

[She sighs in a way that comes just short of saying "boys" at the first part.]

[But the latter makes her laugh.] Knowing more about weddings than you doesn't make me an expert. But I'll help where I can if it comes up.

More of an expert than me. But thanks.

[What would a wedding be without his umm... daughter?]

It sounds like that doesn't take much.

[She's probably a little too old to be flower girl, dad.]

Hey, not even I can be good at everything. [Juuuust most of them.]

And all of the things you aren't good at seem to be romantic. [Says the girl who has been single outside of experiments for at least two years to the guy who is now engaged.]

Hey! That's not true. I happen to be very romantic. The proposal? I planned it out to be incredibly romantic. And she said yes. {So even falling in the water doesn't bring it down! Much. Okay, maybe it does a little.]

Did it go according to plan, though? [Since he just said that he planned it to be romantic.] Although maybe I should ask Suki what her opinion on it was -- you aren't your own best judge of romanticism.

The plan was to get engaged, so yes! Yes it did! Suki will tell you pretty much the same thing.

{Sooooooo you don't need to ask her!]

That doesn't mean it had to be romantic. [She chuckles.] But I guess I'll have to take your word for now.

[Until she gets a good opportunity to ask Suki, that is.]

Thank you, glad to know you trust me. [But he doubts she won't ask Suki later... oh well.] But if you want to know, it was sunset and on a canoe. ~~[Just like that meme date they had!]~~

It matched the necklace. [Which will make sense if Fenimore remembers it. The sun-like emblem of Kyoshi mixed with the waves of the Water Tribe.]

[~~And it is probably for the best for them that it never got a chance to be canon in February.~~ She has to stop and think about it. She'd seen the necklace a lot during that experiment, but it had been one of those things that had been there forever. And directly after the experiment, she had been a bit too distracted to pay too much attention to it. But she manages to combine memories from the two to get a vague picture of it.]

...That's a nice touch. So you do have a little romance in you, after all.

See? I can totally pull it off! I know how to pull off some pretty great dates.

[First date? Riding on Appa over the North Pole. You can't really top that.]
