[Sokka's day will involve a few things. One of them won't include shoveling all the snow out of the way of his house. It's not that he's lazy, but when his sister can take care of that in less than a minute, why even bother? Later his day will involve working on important things at the smithy, like the metal casing for a certain teleporter. And maybe some weapons or the key-shaped variety. Or helping New Feathers find their weapons so they can go about being dangerous. He'll also do lunch in the plaza... maybe do some shopping.

But why dwell on the bad parts? Before his kidnapping, Sokka is available for running into. Also, in light of the fact the snow is coming down pretty hardcore today and is, frankly, almost a blizzard, he feels inclined to make a voice post in the middle of the day.]

You know, we had that big blizzard about the same time last year. Well, not big big. I've seen bigger. But we had a lot of people get stranded out in that stuff. Actually, I met a lot of people being stranded at the Straw Hat's place... Uh, anyway. Yeah, blizzards. Bad stuff. Better make sure you got a lot of food at home, just in case.

[Hours later, on his way home, he'll meet some delightful metal men who will proceed to knock him out and drag him off, being nice enough to leave his sword and boomerang in the snow.]

Nostalgia, I guess. [So, Sanji, still a girl? Oh wait, that's not a good conversation change.] I think I do that a lot. Uh, talk about war. [It's his shtick.]

Well, that's always good. And you turned out fine... so uh, how long ago was all that?

Almost five years ago. [She could tell him to the very hour, but it's finally behind her now.]

[Yeaaaah, let's stick to war]

I've noticed.

[She tilts her head] What are you gonna do back home, now that the war's finished with?

So... they sent you home for five years!? So you must be... [Uh, how old was she originally? He doesn't actually know.]

[She came when she was fourteen doing a good job of working on fifteen, spent a year here, went back as 14 again for four years plus a bit, came back. So...]

I'm nineteen.

I'm not sure. I guess my village needs to be rebuilt. Everyone will be able to finally go home... and we can start getting in contact with everyone else again, now that we don't have to keep our location secret. Of course, there's Suki, too... [He trails off there, wondering if he'll feel the same about Suki at home that he does here.]

... so you're older than me now.

[She can't help a small grin.]

So still busy as ever. [She cracks a smile]

And Katara-chan made it sound like you guys would be busy for a long time, too. [Older Katara-chan]

[Katara's just prepping dinner, like every other day, unaware of the anvil about to drop on her head.]

True. I guess there's no reason why it should go out, unless they shut off the power for an experiment.

Oh shoot. I did forget about them.

THE MALNOSSO ARE MEAN!

[Suki steps into the house and spots Katara, grimacing at once. She really hadn't wanted to give any bad news- it'd been a pretty good day, after all. But Katara has to find out somehow.]

Katara...

[ sure, buffy has had her fair share of warfare but mostly only the kind of underground stuff that dents the running of the world but never in a way to cause anything so serious as a school closure or a curfew. perhaps that is what had made it the hardest on her singular shoulders -- a war to win while still expected to function in the rest of the unwarring world. so she has a moment's pause to contemplate what it must have been like to have a home town boxed in by this kind of thing. a war actually acknowledged and therefore acted upon -- movement restricted for everyone's safety. would it have made it that much easier?

so this talk is actually kind of melancholy and she doesn't really want to compare cribnotes with sokka on their respective kinds of wars and their disadvantages. so, she quickly (and perhaps unexpectedly?) changes tack. ] Sokka -- which of you is younger, between you and Katara?

I showed up in December. They dropped me inside a house. With my clothes under me as a pillow when I was asleep. Pretty thoughtful, really. Maybe they just like me?

Gee, how thoughtful of you.

Hey-- Sokka. Have you been able to work on the teleporter? [a pause, followed by a reluctant:] The CMD containers?

As a matter of fact, yes! It's getting pretty heavy, but it's nothing I can't handle. [Until he comes back from his kidnapping anyway.] But it will definitely be able to transport more than the old one.

Not surprising. Not even big shot heroes get to kick back and relax. Maybe Luceti is supposed to be 'vacation time' before we get to work.

[Because you might call the teleporter by its name-in-progress. That's totally it. :|]

I'd hope so. The point was to make them big enough for your boats. Do you have measurements for me yet?

[Man, after Elicia thought Katara was the older one, this admittedly, makes him frown. Shouldn't it be obvious?]
