[Nothing like peaceful summer days after bloody warfare. After having to avoid being killed by a giant rampaging reindeer the day before, Sokka has been a little slow starting the day since he was returned, opting to simply collapse in bed there and more or less die there. Village or not, he was rather attached to his bed. The one in the hotel while comfortable, was way too big. It's not until well past noon he decides to return to the world at large. This means he needs to go see people. His first stop will be the check on Raphael, which means a visit to Donatello. He unfortunately got the worst of it.

Second is a visit to Winry. He'll try her house first (it is a Sunday), then check the smithy failing that, which means he'll be able to see Edward too. Having already spoken to Brook about Chopper, he can bypass a trip to the Straw Hats and goes looking for San... for a few hours at least. Eventually he'll head down to the river to check his canoes. While he's down there, he leave a simple voice message on his journal for everyone else.]

So, what did I miss?

Sokka!

[ well, she sounds happy. ]

Hey Xion!

[He's a little tired, but he's upbeat.] How are you?

I'm happy! [ a laugh ] Sanji woke up, and everyone's come home... I'm so glad. And my arm is better! Mostly.

[Don answers the door, looking absolutely ragged. It's only been a week since last time Sokka showed up here, but it feels like ages.]

You've heard.

Hey, that's great. I heard about Sanji already. [Didn't go, you know, talk to him or anything.] Once your arm is all healed up, I can take you out on the lake like I promised.

[Poor dude, he doesn't envy you at all. If it wasn't for that last ambush...]

Yeah, it was hard not to. [What with that journal entry and all...] How is he?

Unconscious. But not in pain, at least. [He gestures for you to come in.]

[He nods and steps in. A part of him can't help but feel guilty about this. It was his idea to lead Chopper away. Maybe it would have been worse if they stayed, but maybe it wouldn't have...]

Well... it's good that he's sleeping. I'd help if I could. [But he's no healer, unfortunately.]

Not - [Never mind. It had been a lot of trouble to explain things to Isamu, and Don doesn't have the energy to go through it again.]

[He sits heavily on the couch.] How is everyone else?

[Sokka leans against the wall. He raises an eyebrow at Donatello changing the subject, but then, he can't blame him for that.]

Chopper is still recovering. Brook says he feels terrible about everything that happened. I haven't checked on San. I'll have to go looking for her later, I guess. Everyone else... I think we're all fine. [Physically. Mentally? Maybe not so much.]

[ this is Xion inwardly going 8| at you, Sokka. JUST GO TALK TO THE COOK GODDAMNIT WHY ARE BOYS STUPID? but she's in too much of a good mood to get into that now. she makes a happy sound of affirmation. ] That would be great! Also, I should tell you about what I've started doing...

Oh! But... Sokka, how are you? [ and she doesn't just mean physically, from her tone. ]

[If Raph were awake, he would have something to say at this point. But he isn't, so Don will say it for him.]

Turtle luck, running true to form.

[HE WILL WHEN IT'S LESS AWKWARD, OKAY. Like when there's an earthquake or something.]

A little tired, I guess. It's nice to be home. Well, in the village, at least. Not home home, obviously. I'm fine though, I'll be back into my routine in a few days, probably. [He hasn't forgotten that she mentioned she's started something, but he'll get back to that in a bit.]

Turtle luck? [He kinda has a feeling he knows what that implies, but he asks the question before he even thinks about it.]

[He picks at the arm of the chair, to avoid having to look at anything else.]

We always get the worst of any situation.

[... thought so. Well, comparing notes isn't likely to make Donatello feel much better. Sokka stares off at the floor.]

That's rough, Don.

[Don just shrugs. There's nothing anyone can do about it.]

Did you want to see him?

[That's true. ~~Except for some sadistic muns maybe.~~ He nods.]

If that's alright. I won't wake him or anything.

[~~It was all Ash's idea.~~]

You couldn't if you tried. [He levers himself out of the chair and leads the way to the bedroom.]

My birthday.

[Because clearly Sokka cares at all.

...Well okay no but it's a way to start a conversation]

[~~Somewhere she's laughing.~~]

Right. [Sokka pushes himself off the wall to follow, peering into the room once they arrive.]

Oh. Well happy birthday? [He's not particularly bothered he missed it.] That makes you what, seventeen?

Eighteen, actually. Maybe a little more, depends on how much time you count what with me skipping a few months on arrival here.

[Don loiters in the doorway. He can tell from here that there's no change in Raph's condition. Not that he was expecting one.]

[If Sokka looks closer, he might notice that Raph is cold and barely breathing.]

Oh. [He's surprised mostly that Haruki is that much older. He certainly didn't act it.] Big party, then?
